From Breweries to Bilinga
When Balter Brewing launched back in 2016, their Operations Manager Aaron Waters could hardly predict where he would end up today. Now a staple in the Australian craft beer scene, Aaron brought his background in architecture and design to help create their unique brewery in Currumbin on the Gold Coast. “I started Balter with my friends and we all have different roles,” he says. “I do all the design work, I project manage things and I take care of operations. I suppose it’s something of a hobby or however you want to look at it.”
Just a handful of years later, Aaron is inspiring designers, architects and DIY lovers around the country through his Bilinga Beach Abodes social feeds – showing just how much can be achieved with a clear renovation vision and armed with the right products.
Finding That ‘Special Something’
Once you step inside any of the Bilinga Beach Abodes projects, you instantly realise why Aaron has been so successful with his renovations. Their initial project was a holiday villa they intended to hire out for accommodation and maybe some photoshoots. Little did they know the tremendous success that awaited.
“The Bilinga Beach Abodes house is booked out five to six days every week for photoshoots,” Aaron says. “We were on the front cover of Adore magazine, and we’ve had a couple of spreads in Home Beautiful. Popularity for the house went pretty crazy.”
So when it came to conceptualising ‘The Villas’ – a 1960s standalone home in the same Gold Coast suburb of Bilinga – Aaron wanted to ensure their collaboration with easycraft continued. They had already used easycraft products throughout that first project, and it just so happened that their concept for ‘The Villas’ fit perfectly with the Silhouette by easycraft range, as Aaron knew it was going to be a uniquely custom renovation.
“We opted to go with no skirting. We didn’t want to have any skirting board throughout, which meant during the build we had to make some clear layout decisions. We also wanted to have those clean lines and a different texture on the walls – using something that was different to other wall and ceiling products. I feel that with our Bilinga Beach Abodes houses and what we wanted to achieve, instead of having it all be ‘standard’, we wanted to make sure there was a real ‘beach feel’ to it.”
A Match Made In Design Heaven
There’s a reason Aaron came back to easycraft for his second Bilinga Beach Abodes project – the Silhouette range matches his design tastes while allowing for unmatched customisation, no matter the space.
Bilinga Beach Abodes projects are packed with eye-catching and eclectic design choices, and ‘The Villas’ is no different. Aaron used the Convex profile on the walls and Channel on the ceiling. It’s a unique renovation that heroes the mixing of profiles in a way that complements rather than clashes.
The Silhouette product range has fitted Bilinga Beach Abodes’ style to a tee. Ultimately, Aaron loves the way that easycraft products help him play with light, shape different spaces and encourage a warmth and inviting nature, particularly in ‘The Villas’ living areas.
“Just to see it in the living areas, it adds a bit more of a ‘wow factor’. It’s very clean and it’s got amazing lines to it, so it really helped fill out those wide spaces and living areas.”
