Following a remarkable career change just a few years ago, Jackie is now living her best life – spending her days creating exquisite spaces that people feel truly connected to. We sat down to discuss the project and how she integrated Easycraft panels into her winning entry!
After relocating to her current home just over a year ago Jackie immediately spotted the potential for beautiful styled homes. “We noticed a gap in the market. There weren’t many really beautifully styled and luxurious Airbnbs that people could hire out for weddings, photoshoots and small events. We knew we could do that,” Jackie says.
Jackie purchased the home that is now View on Wiseman not long after relocating, and the potential for turning it into an enticing Airbnb was always front-of-mind. “We wanted to create something that felt luxurious but still quintessentially relaxed. We wanted to really acknowledge that we’re in a hot climate, so the design had to focus on feelings of warmth and cosiness. That meant incorporating a lot of textures throughout the property, in the linens and curtains and panelling.”
Central to Jackie’s overall design decisions was the panelling. And with texture a top priority, using Easycraft was a sensible choice. “The Easycraft panels we chose were the easyVJ 100,” Jackie says. “They were just perfect because it’s an interesting property. It’s a red Greek ’80s-built house in the middle of central Queensland. “As you can probably imagine, those Queenslanders are brimming with character, and we were in a position where our house had none of that. So we had to find ways with the design to add that character.”
Enter, easyVJ. A highly versatile Easycraft panel that can bring spaces together, makes feature walls stand out, and can even be cut and used for purposes beyond wall and ceiling panelling. It was the most appropriate way to bring out all the character and charm that Jackie wanted for the property. “The Easycraft panels tied all the spaces together. We used them in the bedrooms for both their textural element and to add visual interest. But we also carried it through into our kitchen, under the island bench. We even created a dining nook with the panels, which really defines that space.”
The Easycraft judges wholeheartedly agreed. Here’s what they had to say about Jackie’s winning entry: “This was the biggest before-and-after transformation, being that they installed a whole new kitchen that showcased the project along the way from start to finish – that really fit with the renovation challenge element."
The practicality of easyVJ panels is what impresses Jackie most. Not only is it an interior designer’s best friend, but it’s easy for even the most unseasoned DIYer to install in their own renovations.
“Design wise, there are so many benefits of using them,” she says. “We used easyVJ in a one-bedroom apartment in Melbourne for an Airbnb that was really tiny. It had one big wall on the right-hand side and no windows – nothing on that wall at all. So we used Easycraft panels to create a visual element that also made the space feel so much bigger. “In terms of its practical uses, Easycraft is a really good DIY product. It’s suitable for experts as well as someone who wants to get in there and try their own projects. It’s also not going to break the budget!”
